Timothy L. Purkett, Sr.
Pastor
Timothy L. Purkett, Sr., was born March 14th in Norfolk, VA. He attended Norfolk Public Schools, Norfolk State University, and Tidewater Community College. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves as a Security Police Specialist. He is married to Michelle Stevenson-Purkett. They have two (2) exceptional sons, one (1) beautiful daughter-in-love and two (2) wonderful granddaughters.
On January 6, 2012, Timothy Purkett , Sr. was appointed as Pastor of Macedonia COGIC. The installation of his Pastoral appointment was held on September 1, 2012.
During Elder Timothy’s tenure as the Pastor thus far of Macedonia COGIC he and the members have accomplished the following:
> Pastor Purkett was afforded the opportunity to give the invocation and benediction for the graduation class 2016 & 2017 of Tidewater Community College
> The Name on the front and the back of the church, and numerical numbers on the glass for identification was a vision of the Pastor
> Updating the outside sign was done and is again underway
> Pastor was instrumental in having an A-top and a flat-top roof replacement done for Macedonia Church of in Christ along with the three (3) air condition units raised and secured a 15 year warranty for the job
> Pastor Purkett lead and organized a pledge drive that motivated the members to raise an emergency fund for the church
> In 2018 Pastor Purkett was appointed the Assistant Superintendent of Portsmouth District
> Pastor Purkett has been appointed to the Finance Team for the International Men’s Department for the Church of God in Christ
> 2018, while at the International Men’s Conference, Pastor Purkett was appointed to the Executive Staff of the International Men’s Department
> Pastor Purkett started his own Bible Study series during the pandemic
> New things were implemented with the finance team to start using various systems including ChurchTrac, QuickBooks now using ADP, and StartCHURCH for better and easier tracking ability of finances and reporting capabilities
> Replaced the roof on one of the church houses
> Pastor Purkett has a plan to renovate our fellowship center in the future
> There are plans being developed for outreach programs for the community
